Subject: HIRING (Various roles): Selective breeding for animal welfare
Date: Tue, 16 Dec 2025 17:31:36 -0600
Dear researchers,
The Animal Pain Research Institute is currently hiring researchers. Together
with industry and academic partners, we use selective breeding to improve
animal welfare.
If you have expertise in one or more of the following areas, then we would
love to hear from you:
* Pain & Distress Genetics: Contribute your expertise in the genetics and
neurobiology of pain and distress to help us design and implement research
programs, and identify high- and low-distress alleles in animal genomes.
* Comparative Genomics: Lead the design of a cross-species framework for
avoiding animal genotypes linked to severe distress, for application to
selective breeding programs.
* Quantitative Genetics & Shrimp / Chicken Breeding: Work with breeding
companies to help us define and deliver new strategies for breeding animals
with better welfare and health traits without compromising on production.
* Shrimp / Chicken Welfare Phenotyping: Apply your knowledge of physiology
and behavior to turn welfare goals into practical, measurable phenotypes in
shrimp / chicken.
* Administration & Support: Roles available in fundraising and grant
writing, bookkeeping, HR, communications and outreach, administrative
assistance and IT support.
* Scientific Project Management: Lead the development and implementation of
our research programs.
We're assessing applications on a rolling basis, so please apply as soon as
possible.

We encourage you to share these opportunities with your colleagues and
networks.
